Today is #WorldAIDSDay. Every December 1st, we reflect on an epidemic that spanned decades. Devastating lives. Taking people from their loved ones prematurely. Science has made monumental strides in treatment since the early days of the epidemic. As a result, HIV positive patients can live longer, healthier lives. However, a cure doesn’t exist, and the stigma remains. The fight continues. Attitudes have and will continue to change. And every day that passes brings us closer to the cure.
Let’s take this day to honor and remember the lives lost to HIV and AIDS-related complications. And let us hope that we will, one day, send this disease to the ash heap of history.
